This page contains the disclosures required of distance sellers under Japan’s Act on Specified Commercial Transactions (特定商取引法第11条). A course running more than two months at a fee above ¥50,000 is also a specified continuous service (特定継続的役務提供), which carries the further cooling-off and mid-term cancellation rights set out below. - Online Japanese lessons of 50 minutes each (1-to-1, 1-to-2 and small-group cohort), together with the online learning materials that go with them.オンライン日本語レッスン（1回50分）およびオンライン教材。
- Fees役務の対価
- As stated on the Fee Schedule, including the ¥15,000 enrolment fee charged once on first enrolment. Lessons are from ¥3,900 each in a cohort, ¥5,200 in a 1-to-2 lesson and ¥6,500 in a 1-to-1 lesson; Foundation 150 is ¥198,000–¥398,000 depending on format. Each fee is confirmed in writing before you enrol.消費税は加算しておりません。当社は適格請求書発行事業者ではありません。
- Charges besides the fee対価以外に必要な費用
- None from us. No consumption tax is added to the fees above. You pay for your own internet connection, and for any transfer or currency-conversion fee your own bank or payment provider charges.

- In advance, at the time of your application. After the consultation and any trial lesson, once a package and a start date have been agreed, we send the invoice with the enrolment documents. Card and PayPal payments are made at that moment; a telegraphic transfer or bank transfer (Wise included) must reach us within 3 days of your application. Enrolment is confirmed when payment has been received, and lessons begin on the agreed start date. Nothing is charged for the consultation or the trial lesson.お申し込み時に前払い。電信送金・銀行振込の場合はお申し込みから3日以内。
- Learner age受講者の年齢
- No age limit. For a learner under 18, a parent or legal guardian is the contracting party.
- Service period役務の提供期間
- 3 to 12 months per package, as stated on the Fee Schedule. Lessons begin on the start date agreed with you after enrolment. Before enrolling you receive a summary of the course and its terms (概要書面), and on enrolment the contract document itself (契約書面).
- Cooling-offクーリング・オフ
- You may cancel unconditionally within 8 days of receiving the contract document (契約書面), in writing or electronically. We refund everything you have paid, including the ¥15,000 enrolment fee, with no cancellation charge, even if you have already taken lessons. See section 2 of the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
- Mid-term cancellation中途解約
- You may cancel at any time while your package is valid. Before your first lesson we keep no more than ¥15,000 in total, including any enrolment fee. After lessons have started you pay for the lessons used plus a cancellation charge of the lower of ¥50,000 or 20% of the remaining contract value; everything else is refunded within 14 business days. See sections 3 and 4 of the Refund and Cancellation Policy.

Your statutory rights come first. The cooling-off and mid-term cancellation rights above are those given by the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions for specified continuous services. Nothing on this page, in our Terms or in our Refund Policy reduces them.

Is consumption tax added to the lesson fees?
No. The fees on our Fee Schedule are the amounts you pay — no consumption tax is added. Sena Lux Inc. is not a qualified invoice issuer (適格請求書発行事業者), so we cannot issue a qualified invoice for input tax credit purposes.
How and when do I pay for Japanese lessons?
By credit card, PayPal, Wise or bank transfer, in advance. Payment is due at the time of your application — immediately by card or PayPal, or within 3 days of applying if you pay by telegraphic transfer or bank transfer. Nothing is charged for the consultation or the trial lesson, and lessons start on the date agreed with you once payment has been received.
Can I cancel after I have paid?
Yes. You may cancel unconditionally within 8 days of receiving your contract document and everything you paid is refunded, including the ¥15,000 enrolment fee. After that you may cancel at any time while your package is valid: you pay for the lessons used plus a cancellation charge capped at the lower of ¥50,000 or 20% of the remaining contract value.
How long do I have to use the lessons I bought?
Between 3 and 12 months depending on the package, as stated on the Fee Schedule. Lessons unused at the end of the validity period expire.
Can a learner under 18 enrol?
Yes. There is no age limit, but for a learner under 18 the contract is made with a parent or legal guardian, who is the contracting party.
