Lingua One Corporation (“we”) operates Nihongo One. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. It follows Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (個人情報保護法).
What we collect
- Your name, email address and country, when you contact us or book a consultation.
- What you tell us about your Japanese level, goals and schedule.
- Enrolment and payment records, where you become a student.
- Learning records — attendance, homework, quiz results and lesson recordings — for enrolled students.
- Standard technical information from your browser, including cookies and analytics.
Why we use it
- To answer your questions and hold consultations.
- To deliver lessons and track progress.
- To process payments and keep the records Japanese law requires.
- To improve our courses and this website.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate — video conferencing, our learning platform, payment processing and email — and only as far as they need it. Some of these providers operate outside Japan. We disclose personal information to third parties otherwise only with your consent or where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Enquiry records are kept while we are in contact and for a reasonable period afterwards. Student records are kept for as long as needed to administer the course and satisfy tax and accounting law.
Your rights
You may ask us to disclose, correct, add to, stop using or delete your personal information, or to stop sharing it with third parties. Write to us and we will respond within a reasonable period.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses cookies to remember your preferences and to understand how the site is used. In the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland nothing is stored until you accept: analytics run without cookies until then, and a banner asks on your first visit.
